24 hours with 55 high school kids. 24 hours to compose music, write scripts, and create art. I wonder where this will go. The theme is the 9 Rosas. These involve like different emotions? Almost like the 7 sins, except they’re not all sinical. LOL. We assigned the students to write for ten minutes about a certain emotion in a personal experience and I wrote one myself. I will share on here since I didn’t share during theater. :) I will update it a little later though. I gotta go supervise for now! gahh..

I remember walking into my first class of fall semester last year (freshmen year). I was completely lost. There were about 350 students in my chem class and I wasn’t sure if I even knew any of them. I looked around and the only seats left were the ones in the back. I decided to sit in the last row. I sat down and waited for class to start. About 10 minutes before the class ended, a guy rushed into class and took a seat next to me. Judging by his messy hair and the overwhelming smell of alcohol, I already knew this would be my first encounter with a frat boy. Oh yes, one of the various frat boys that you hear about when talking about college or the ones you see in movies who have the perfect life of “love, parties, sex and drinking.” The professor had finally ended his first monologue lecture and dismissed us. I stood up, about to rush to my next class (which was all the way across campus & scheduled to start in 15 minutes fyi) when the guy next to me wouldn’t move. He sat there staring at his desk as if there was a picture of some half-naked hot girl glued to it. I tapped his shoulder and asked “Could you please move? I have to get to my next class.” I then realized he was dozing off, not staring at the desk. I tapped him again and he bolted up, looked around and said “OH! uhh… sorry.” I thought to myself “why even bother showing up to class? sigh.” He moved and I rushed past him out through the door in the back of the room. I got to my next class only to realize we didn’t have lab classes the first week of school. Sigh…. Those were the only classes for the day so I decided I’d call up my friends to see if they wanted to grab coffee or something. I reached around in my pocket for my phone. Not there. n my bag? Not there. In my jacket? Not there. Where was my phone?! I rushed over back to my chemistry class (all the way across campus) freaking out in my head, wondering if it’d still be there. I didn’t see it anywhere. I went next door to the front office and asked if I could use their phone. I called my phone and someone picked up after the second or third ring.
“Hello?” He answered.
“Hi. My name’s Katherine and I own the phone that you just picked up. Could I have it back please? I can go over to wherever you are.”
I spoke so quickly that I wasn’t even sure if he had understood me. I was about to repeat myself more slowly, when he replied.
“Oh. okay. I’ll give you directions. It’s the first house on fraternity row. It’s white. You’ll see it as soon as you turn onto the road. My name’s John. Just ring the doorbell when you get here.”
“Um okay. that sounds good! Thanks so much!”
“No problem. bye”
After I hung up I realized I didn’t ask for the name of the house or even for an adress. ‘Oh well. It can’t be too hard to find a white frat house. the first one on the road too!’
After asking for directions to frat row from at least 4 different people, I finally found myself in the midst of several houses left and right. So the one I was looking for was the white one. Okay well that eliminates….. None. Okay, then the first one? where does this road even start and end? I decided to ask the guy standing in the front lawn of a house around the middle. He looked as if he were waiting for something or someone.
I asked “excuse me. Do you know which is the first house on frat row? I supposed to be looking for a white frat house. First one on the road. he said his name was John?”
The guy laughed “Yeah. It should be the one over there.” He pointed me in a direction. “Except I’m not sure if it would be that one or one of the other two at the end of this row.”
I thanked him and said I would just try and figure it out for myself. ‘So I’ll try that first and then the other two at the other end.’
I rang the doorbell but no one seemed to come to the door. I walked around to the back and checked to see if anyone was in the back. There was a guy sitting with another girl on beach chairs reading what looked like school textbooks.
“Hi. I was wondering if there’s a John here?”
The guy answered “That would be me. How can I help you? Oh. are you the one… wait one second let me get it”
“Oh okay. Sure.”
While the guy went inside to grab my phone I waited awkwardly while the girl gave me a death glare. I was assuming she was his gf. or soon to be… She finally said something “So…. why did you leave it here? was it on purpose”
“Oh. I left it in class actually and he picked it up for me. Yeah. I’ve never been here before” I laughed to try and lighten the mood.
“Okay. Sure.”
‘is it me or does this girl hate me for just leaving my phone in class? talk abt great first day.’
I replied “No I really did just leave it in class.”
The girl replied “don’t you think that’s weirder?”
I replied, “Uh… I guess it was careless of me to-“
The guy rushed out interrupting me “I don’t remember you leaving this or how you left it here but here you go. It was pretty crazy last night so it can happen. Freshman, right? At least you had fun!” He gave me a bright smile and handed me a box.
“Yeah I’m a freshman. But i don’t know what you’re… nvm. Oh. You put it in a box for me…? You could’ve just given it to me” I opened the box to find a piece of…. “cloth?”
“Is that everything?” exclaimed the girl. I was still trying to figure out why I had received a box with a thong in it, when I had clearly come here for my phone.
“Um. this isn’t mine. I came here for my phone.”
The guy gave me a blank stare “OH. you’re katie? kat? sorry. I forget names easily”
I replied “yeah. of course. I told you I’d stop by today for my phone.”
He laughed “sorry. I thought you were someone else…. I’m pretty sure she looked a lot like you. asian. tall…. asian. Anyways… Here’s your phone. My friend picked it up from class and asked me to hold onto it for him. So I ended up picking up when you called.”
“Oh okay… here. you can have this back” I passed him back the box.
“Thanks… haha. you must’ve been surprised. well good luck in chemistry? or was it biology? or whatever class you’re in. good luck with college”
“uh. thanks. for my phone and everything. I’m gonna go now.”
“Oh. wait. here.” he passed me a small note that looked like an invitation. “party friday at 11. be here or be square”
“haha…. i will think about it.” i answered while trying to avoid the girl’s death stare.
“oh. and welcome to UF. welcome to college!”
THE END.
so that was my unbelievable first day of school. and my emotion would be confusion, fear/worry, and disgust. Haha. I think it might be good that I didn’t share this experience with all of the 55 high school students. They might’ve thought college is scarier than it really is. After all, the following days were as normal as ever. Class, friends, food, and hangouts. Haha. I shall update this entry more later with other chaos that happens tonight. and other crazy thoughts/experiences like this one.

So…. he… he…
after that last depressing post, i have good news. well. at least i think it’s good news.
so after everything that happened last friday, i ended up confessing/venting (lol) to andy about everything that happened to me… this all happened on tuesday. but i felt better cuz i was able to get it all out of me. haha. at the same time i think i was severely depressed after our conversation. lol…. but that’s okay. that’s just cuz i had to rethink about everything that had happened. haha. :P
but i think it’s good news that i was able to just let go and tell someone everything for once. :3
anyways…. i had a pretty good day today~! i made foood & shared with andy, brian, dansuh, & lydia~!
lydia is this freshman who came down from atl for UF. :) she’s so sweet, cute, & lovable. she’s sleeping over this friday~! which i’m totally excited for~! i sound like a fifth grader…. yes i know. haha. but i’m just that excited~! anyways. aren’t you glad i updated? if i didn’t, you prolly would have thought i had gone somewhere and jumped off a building or something. haha.
so…… yeah! that’s it for today~! enjoy your night guys~

So…
Recently I’ve joined my church’s praise team! Yay!!
since it’s a college community our praise team seems to be a lot more “professional” or mmm…. “legit” than i’m used to. haha. I’m the girl vocal on the team. teehee.. :)
Everything’s fun and it’s nice being together and just hanging out during practices & afterwards, but i think it’s nicest since we all share our faith and love for God.
After each thursday practice, we have like a small bible study thing amongst ourselves that our praise team leader, Andy, leads. Andy suggested that we should start reading this book called “Worship Matters” by Bob Kauflin. and we just started reading the book this week. we read chapter 1 and 2 this week. and it lead me to think a lot about my heart.
The main thing that caught my attention was chapter 2, which talked about your heart. it made me wonder where my heart was when i was worshipping. i wanted to tell myself that it was always on God, but i would just be lying to myself. so that was something i needed to work on. I realized that it was very easy to just forget about why i was a part of praise team in the first place: to glorify God’s name & help others life up his name in praise & worship. it seems so easy to get caught up about technicalities such as harmonizing and ad-lib parts, instead of getting “caught up” in God’s love and grace.
Anyways, i thought i would share since this is like my own personal private blog. haha. although it’s public, no-one i know personally knows about it, so it’s nice. :) i would say it’s really similar to xanga. i don’t know if anyone remember’s that anymore. lol. anyhow… that’s it for this post.. i think i’ll upload soon again! :)
Have a good rest of the day for any one of you who come across this post. God bless~!

School’s Finally Over! Summer break!!
Which leads me to realize…
I am no longer a freshman. I am officially a sophomore in college.
Wow…
Love…
Powerfully Sweet…
Whether it’s the beginning of a relationship or the climax of a relationship, these emotions are always confusing and flustering.
Whether it’s the love in friendship, the love in family, or the love between a couple, it’s always strong.
Whether it’s unrequited or mutual, to the person feeling this way to another, it’s always important and sometimes even life-changing.
Therefore, as confusing, flustering, strong, important, and life-changing it is, if all these emotions have to come to an end, it hurts just as much.
The confusing and flustering emotions are the same at the end.
The strong feeling between each other is heartbreaking at the end.
And as much as it was important and life changing, the end is just as powerful.
Whether it’s you who ends it with them, or them who ends it with you… It’s just as flustering… heartbreaking… and just as…
Powerfully Painful…
Love.
